Janina A. Ciezadlo is an artist and critic in Chicago. Her reviews appear in the Chicago Reader; Afterimage, The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism; Bridge; Artscope and the Chicago Art Critic's Association Publications. Several of her poems and photographs appeared in afterhours, a journal of Chicago poetry and art. This January she will enjoy her fourth residence at Ragdale. Her scholarly work has appeared in the Yearbook of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Proceedings of the Society for the Study of Social Imagery. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts and an MA with departmental honors in comparative literature from Indiana University, Bloomington. A member of the organizing committee for the Part-time Faculty Association at Columbia IEA/NEA, she is serving a second term as president of the union local. She has been exhibiting prints, photographs, and paintings since 1976. Titles of recent one-person exhibitions include Ariadne's Knowledge, Imaginary Archeology, the History of the Knot. Pieces from the series Maison Des Cartes: House of Cards are currently on view at Gosia Koscielak Studio and Gallery in Wicker Park.
